Manuscripts concerning Pichardo's interests in San Felipe de Jesús and the northern areas of New Spain. The bulk of the papers pertain to the life of San Felipe de Jesús de las Casas. They include documents about the saint, who was martyred in Japan in 1597, (filed as G29 and G49) and a manuscript of Pichardo's work about the saint's life (G47). Other documents relating to San Felipe de Jesús and other martyrs in Japan include an assortment of 18th-century copies (G64) and "Testimonios auténticos de los Santos Martires del Japón," covering the years 1571-1623 (G50). The latter also includes items relating to the erection of the Iglesia de Capuchines de México, baptismal entries dated 1536-1569 from the records of the Sagrario de México and other churches and parishes, and a list of conquistadors and their dependents who were living in 1590. Smaller manuscripts include extracts and notes made by Pichardo from Cristobal Bernardo de la Plaza y Jaen's Crónica de la Real é Insigne Universidad de México ..." (G35); Pichardo's dissertation about Quivira (G284); and a ten-leaf portion of Pichardo's report concerning the boundary of Louisiana and Texas (G318). Assorted fragmentary documents and notes (89 leaves) pertain largely to the geography, exploration, and settlement of the Provincias Internas, especially Texas; many probably relate to Límites de Luisiana y Texas.
